This is an introductory course to Western Classical Music. We will learn about core musical elements such as music notation, melody, rhythm and meter, harmony, form, and texture. In addition, we will cover a broad overview of music history from the first instances of notated music to the present, listening to many examples along the way. Students do not need to have a background in music to be in this class. The primary goals of this class are to build a working knowledge of the building blocks of music and understand how it works, as well as an appreciation for classical music in all its forms. The cost of this course is $350 with a $25 supply fee.
